My dislike for Oil painting disappeared when I discovered odourless paints and thinners. Although the range of colours in my palette numbers thirteen I very rarely use them all. Generally my palette is made up from between four and ten colours loosely based on Titanium White, two yellows, two reds and two blues with a couple of extra’s should they be needed. The "Wet-on-Wet"® technique allows the artist to mix colours both on the pallette and on the canvass acheiving subtle tonal colour changes and sometimes magical effects. I often use a coloured gesso to underpaint the scene and love the effects of masking the canvass with a contact paper mask.
